Sara's U681T developed a delamination behind the bridge and went back to the factory for repairs. The guitar came back better than new. The top and bowl were replaced as expected. While there, someone put a lot of love into restoring the instrument. The back of the neck was re-glossed, frets polished, some minor scratches in the face of the headstock (from changing strings) were removed, fretboard cleaned, a new nut installed along with a complete setup, and new strings installed.

The epaulets were changed, and I really like this new look a lot.

This was a non-warranty repair due to Sara not being the original owner. The price charged was ridiculously low for what they did. I expected to pay 3 times what they charged, and would not have thought it out of line at all. John B. and The Mother Ship exceeded all expectations.

After the Spa:

Delamination which required repair:

Before the delamination, when Sara received the guitar. Original U681T style epaulets.

So this one Looks really very nice with this new style eppies!!
I love mine too. It has become the most played one in my collection now, because of it's nice tone and the fantastic playability.

Bill Nichols at nicholsinlay . com did the work. I sent him a photocopy of Sara's signature and he did some magic to inlay it in brass into an ebony TRC. The guitar was Sara's high school graduation gift and I wanted to get it personalized for her. Now it is even more unique with the one of a kind epi's on a Ute.

It sounds even better than before the delamination, if that is possible.

Wasn't that the guitar that was ordered by a doctor in Texas but the wrong neck went on it? He never really bonded with it and sold it to you? I played that guitar at one of the gatherings (06? 07?) and thought it was wonderful. And I really like the new epi's. Sara is very very fortunate to have such a wonderful guitar.....

It came from a member here, Nick, dunno if he is a Dr. I don't think he was the original owner though. The guitar was a regular U681T when we received it. Yes it sounded fantastic when we got it. The delam happened fairly quickly, over the span of a couple of weeks max I think. It seems to have a crisper tone now compared to how I remember it being. Sara thinks it sounds better, too.

The epi's are the ones they put on the current production Adamas I 1687 GT.

Wow, good to see this back in working order. When I saw the original damage I felt sick in the stomach and ran around checking all my Adamii for delamination.
