Location: Texas | Today I was told, by someone who will remain nameless, that any Ovation model with an LX suffix was US made and that all AX and TX models are Korean made. The example they used was that the 2771-LX Balladeer was US made while the 2771-AX Balladeer is Korean-made. Both are listed as current models on Ovation's web site.
Does that concur with anyone else's understanding? Do you think that's reliable information? Can anyone prove that to be incorrect?

Location: Scotland | Careful. The AX guitars were in the line prior to the Fender takeover and were made in Hartford. So check the label. While current AX will be imports any pre-2008 AX should be US-made. As far as I can tell they were introduced in 05/06 and there were 4 models of Balladeer Special AX and 4 Elite Special AX. The current models are probably contour bowls, so that should be the giveaway. |

Location: Texas | Yes, but aren't they using contour bowls on new USA models also? That alone is probably not enough to figure it out.
