Do I rub the backing and apply it dry or is there a medium like water or mineral spirits involved? My guess is to moisten the backing before rubbing the applique. This one has been waiting for a few years.

But I would think that they go on just like the decals on model cars/airplanes/tanks/boats etc... That would be that the decal is on the top of the waxy paper. You dip them in water and slide them off onto the headstock, and position them very quickly. But since you have waited years, I would wait for a professional opinion. But that is a good score! (so don't go rubbing on it, it ain't an applique!)

John B usually answers his email about this time in the morning... And I still think that they are water-slide like you said.

So when do the Wizards of Greenwoods Road finish their Summer vacation? I know they went on vacation about the time I wanted that Pacemaker rebuilt, but that was around Labor Day. (I think)
