Does anyboby know where I can get the UK2 manual or maybe a site on-line where it explains in detail all the electronic features of the guitar?

There's not much to explain. There's a 3 way P/U selector switch and a standard vol/tone per pickup control layout. Pretty much like a Les Paul or SG or any standard 4 control/2 pickup guitar. The only other feature is the series/parralel switch on each P/U surround. The 2 coils in a humbucker are usually wired in series. When switched to parallel they lose a little output and sound brighter. Kinda like a coil tap but they remain hum-cancelling. If I remember correctly with the switch towards the bridge the coils are in parralel, series toward the neck. If not the brighter sound is parralel and the darker sound is series.

That's how it appears to work, Paul. I always keep the P/U switches forward to create a tone more closely resembling the bright punch of single coils.

I usually keep the neck pu switch in serirs, and the bridge pu switch in parallel. That gives a more distinct difference between the tones and a nice blend when used together.

Don't forget the "stereo" jack. It's not stereo, but it allows each pickup to have it's own output if you have the splitter cable.

Here's a link to the manual on Jerome's site (thanks again Jerome!)

I have a few things on my mind that I just can't get around, even after reading most of the archived UKII threads. I hope this isn't too off topic, I just didn't want to start another UKII thread. I've heard a lot about the sustain, sound, and light weight of this guitar but I haven't actually heard it. Is the UKII neck heavy at all? Could the sustain/out-of-phase abilities be compared to say.. Peter Green's Les Paul? I know there is a great video on youtube by one a fellow poster, but I don't really get an overall idea of what the UKII sounds like (clean for example).

Maybe a solid body guitar resource thread/sticky would be a possibility? There are just so many things about these guitars that it's hard for me to find all the information I'm looking for (even with searches in the archives).

SF,

I'd go ahead and post a new thread with a more direct approach to what info you're seeking, i.e. UKII sounds, attributes, operation, etc.

Hopefully, you'll get more input, plus it would ease subsequent 'searches'.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I should post another thread or not. I didn't want to be a bother or annoy. I'll go ahead and do that. :)

So.. OT, I apologize. I know as newbie I should be very careful about posting relative material. I apologize. I am very thankful for the link the UK2 manual however, and all the other manuals. I wish electric guitars still came with manuals.

No way, I like these guitars too much to just want info. I only want info so I can understand them better and find the right one for me. I love my Viper, but the other electrics are really interesting too. I just remember going over the welcome and rules and thinking "I want to know things, but I don't want to annoy people with the same questions I'm sure they've gotten for years", you know? The first time I played an Ovation guitar was when I was 16, it was an acoustic.. not sure what kind, but after that I was an "Ovation" guy. :)

I was 15. It was a UKII. I've been hooked since.
