I am usually an ebayer but I prefer to make sure this guitar finds a good home with someone who can appreciate what it is. I am offering my used and slightly dinged up FD-14 #38/50 Serial #571145 to my fellow OFC members. I've definitely seen guitars in better shape but this one still has the sound that we're all looking for. It has several dings and scratches in the top and an oversize bridge. If anyone is coming to the factory tour next week I would be glad to show it to you as I prefer to have whoever wants it to see and play what they're getting in person. I've been watching the prices on these things going over $1000 easily but I'd like to get $850 or so for this one. Hope to see a bunch of you next week at the factory tour. Dave

Why does it have an oversize bridge?

That's a great offer to the OFC community.

Someone will surely grab this one, dings and all.

Thanks for the opportunity.

The bridge had pulled off and there was a small chip out of the finish that a regular size bridge didn't quite cover. The bridge on it now is a factory made oversize bridge.

I have a question. Was it you responsible for this abuse? Lots of us feel like this is the most coveted Ovation in existence, like I'd buy a mean dog to look over it while I'm away from the house. What happened? But don't misunderstand me...I might try to find $850 to take on the tour with me!

I wasn't responsible for the condition of this guitar, it really hasn't been abused but as sometimes happens when bridges pull off, it's that split second after, when the bridge is still strung up but unattached to the top it is now a flying object that has to land somewhere. All the little dings and scratches are between the bridge and the soundhole. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, but that is why I'd rather sell it in person when someone can see it for themselves than try to describe it on the internet. The guitar will speak for itself.

Hey...when I started looking at my FD 14, I returned and the dealer told me it had been returned to the factory because the bridge had popped off. I spoke with the factory about this and they assured me that it was just a fluke. I wonder just how many other FD 14 boxes had similar problems.

Just a thought. I'm sure you got the 850 or so that you wanted for your box. Wish I had been there so I could have seen it too.

There was no interest in the guitar so I am going to be putting it up on ebay very soon.

Is that me, Dave ("StandingOvation"), not having paid my $5 registration fee? And I love what you did with your FD 14. Kinda makes it even more "special"! You have one super collection!

Dave O, sorry your FD 14 didn't sell. Kinda like trying to get your sister married off. You know just how fickle musicians can be. Don't be too offended. *s*
