Personally i've had experience with 5 "vintage" guitars - Fender Stratocaster '69 (which i owned), Gibson Les Paul from mid sixties, Epiphone (arch top) from late 40s, Martin 0018 '62 and Gibson acoustic jumbo from 50s. Fender was ok, it sounded better than currently produced American Standard, but it was no match for deluxe. Lest Paul was total crap, it had nice neck but other than that nothing special - weak sustain, poor tuners and it sounded like strings were too far from humbuckers, but it was set up just fine. Epiphone was great instrument, i liked it, but electronics was way too noisy. Martin was quite nice guitar, but i'd never pay for it more than $1000. The only guitar that made me say 'wow' was that Gibson acoustic which was so loud and so clear that made me look at the guitar after every strum and i was thinking "where the hell is this sound produced". There is a lot of old guitars here in poland, and they're not so highly priced because people don't afford buying it for a high price. I think in about 50% of "Culture Houses" in Poland there is at least one vintage guitar, which was sent to poland by Polonia in 70's or 80's or that was imported here that time. | ||
