Location: Phoenix AZ | I have a guitar where the nut has become very discolored, kind of dirty orange brownish. This has happened gradually over may years and I'm wondering about cleaning it. Any ideas? I was thinking to remove the nut and soak it in bleach.

Location: NJ | Look, I'm REALLY sorry about this, but:
When I saw the title of this "topic" it reminded me of the joke where the guy goes to his doctor for a thorough physical exam and the doctor is VERY concerned that this guy has these severely discolored testicles while the guy doesn't seem a bit bothered about it.
Thinking that it might me "occupationally" related, the doctor asks what the guy does for a living.
"I'm unemployed", is the response.
"Well then, what do you do all day" queries the doc.
"I just sit around the house all day watching pornos and eating cheese doodles".
. . . . . I'm REALLY sorry! |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Well, thanks to Cliff I did get ONE straight answer. What should I expect with such a topic title? I can just imagine my wife's comments as she sees me walk into the bathroom with my guitar in hand.
Wife: "What are you going?"
Me: "I'm going to brush my discolored nut with toothpaste."
Wife: "Couldn't you just do it with the radio on and not bother with the guitar?"

Scrubbing it (the GUITAR nut) with a poultice of peroxide and baking soda might work too. |

Location: NoHo, CA | My friend had a swollen nut the size of a grapefruit. He had to see a doctor and get an operation to "drain the fluid filled sack" (no pun). Wonder if white out would have helped him? |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | a little white out would do wonders to some of these people who just can't face a simple problem, I suggest hitting that discolored nut with toilet paper.
Guy goes to doctor for checkup, everything is fine except for bad case of brown nuts. Guy goes home and tells wife he must have complete rest to cure brown nuts, wife says " YOU need rest! I'm so busy with the kids that I don't have time to wipe my ass!". |
