...Here is a ended auction for a Ovation MM68 mandolin: katbird921 is the "winner"

Notice that "katbird921" had no feedback and signed up on May 7th(one day before the auction's end)
Also notice that "Heavensdoorband"(look under bidders) also signed up May 7th and "upped" the bid about $73 over (our) Roundback's (I wonder if they'll bid on the current auction)
Well another "successful" auction with a USA made mandolin going "cheap".......maybe to cheap??

Well it seems that "katbird921" couldn't hold up her end of the transaction and the seller has to relist.......
Notice that seller relisted the mandolin on May 13th......and on the NEXT day May 14th he leaves "positive" feedback stating "Excellent-Fast Pay-" for a buyer who suppositively "backed out" of the transaction!!!
Also notice that about an hour later "katbird921" leaves "positive" feedback about how "easy" the transaction was....yeah,real easy since the transaction NEVER took place!!(other than feedback building)
Two of the three current bidders bid on the first auction....(our)Roundback(Paul B) and a buyer named "hudson ford"....and currently the bid is lower than the previous auction's $465....with alittle over 3 hrs. remaining I'm curious to see how "cheap" the mandolin goes for this time!!(maybe "Heavensdoorband" might want some "positive" feedback too....)I'd LOVE to see one of the three current bidders win it for lower than $465 but somehow I get the feeling....That ain't gunna happen!!!!

Location: south east Michigan | It's a shame. Scams are everywhere. And the poor, fantastic looking Ovation is stuck in the middle. Maybe this guy is just trying build up feedback so he can set someone up later.
How can a weasel manage to over 200 transactions and still have 99% good feedback? Something does smell here.
Got to hand it to you Trboy. You are on this like a hobo on a hotdog. Maybe Moody can use a faithful sidekick?

He (blindcircus) might just be a "nice" guy who likes buyers who sign up the day before his auction's end,win and then back out causing him to relist......He might even be a member of this board.....

Location: the BIG Metropolis of TR | Seller either made $3 (over hudson ford's original $460) or he lost $2 (off the original selling price of $465)I guess it's all in how you look at it....he actually lost more by not originally offering hudson ford a "second chance deal" the 1st time around before he had to pay extra for the relist,insertion fee,and final value fee (he kicked up the opening bid from $200 to $300)

Location: Minden, Nebraska | I have reported bidders for suspected shill bidding before with the result of one or more of them being suspended. I don't like ratting someone out, but it is a clear violation of the eBay user agreement and it isn't victimless. If you have good reason to suspect a shill, report it. There is a place on eBay to report it and they do investigate it. |

Location: Florida | Its hard to prevent shills (fakes, plants, subversives, manipulators, frauds) from bidding. You REALLY have to do your homework - mostly seeing if the item was listed before.
There are cases where three or more buyers bought and sold the same item to each other.
I think the bottom line is always contact the seller, always get a return priv., always ask questions, and keep frosty. |
