Location: SoCal | I was talking with fellow OFCer Sergio this morning, and he brought up an interesting question. How many people here have early 1980's (about 83 and 84) 1674 Country Artist cutaways? Ovaton stopped making the CA shortly after this, and it wasn't until about 10 years later that the CA made a comeback, this time having open tuners and an Indian blanket rosette.
The cutaway seems to be fairly rare. Serge has one and so do I. Anybody else? I had to hunt far and wide for mine and wouldn't sell it for anything. I haven't seen any on ebay for about 2-3 years.
Speak up. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Paul, I think the cutaway original style Country Artists are pretty rare. Maybe only in the catalogs for 2 years and probably not many sold. Even fewer had the jack washer upgrade.

PS - Quit making fun of my rosette! |

At least he spared you the "Indian blanket going down a toilet" comment . . . |

Location: Texas | Yes, I have a great 1984 Sunburst 1674 Country Artist cutaway that I got from Trboy awhile back, (thanks Mike) and was sent to the factory for some TLC and an OP-Pro upgrade, (thanks John B.)
I know Trboy has another CA 1674 natural top.
One of the rarest Ovation models.
Who else has one?
Serge

Location: Phoenix AZ | I'm stuck with an Indian Blanket Flushing Down The Toilet. But it IS a nice guitar. Especially with the newly gloss finished headstock, new tuners, and upgraded jack washer. |

I know that you went to gold tuners on your CA. Did you also make the transition to a weighed and balanced 24 carat gold washer for the p/u jack? Makes an incredible difference in the sound. You'll toss all the other all wood nylon strings that you have. |

Gold washer, gold tuners, gold screws for the TRC and gold strap buttons.
Looks great with the dark sunburst and makes a big diference!
