Music Power is a great shop. Last time I was down there, they had several USA model Os and As, including a hard to find Country Artis LX.

I was very impressed with their selection.

Yesterday, as I was told, San Diego was the last of the tour...believe I was the only OFC'er there. An Ovation 'ee asked me if I knew Paul Moody as he had met him at the stop in Tustin.

Tempted, so tempted :( :D :(

Good time for all (probably 60 in attendance).
When they could, every guitar available was being checked out and played...some by some 'pros' from yesteryear. A pretty good number of wood box players were impressed with the contour bowl. One yelled out "hey, it doesn't slip!"

From what I saw, with the help of Ovation's staff and the effort of GuitarTrader/Music Power, this tour did a lot for Ovation and Adamas here.

Paul,

He was very impressed with your OFC guitar and the mediums.

They didn't restring guitars...when I checked to see if Joe Montoya (our district rep) was going to do the restringing, I was going to bring #50 so we could watch Joe sweat a little restring the slothead.

The Roadshow today was interesting even for a die hard Ovation fan. But the two guys doing the presentation know less about the guitars and company history than the average OFCer, so don't expect to learn much new. It is a good chance to play a variety of current production guitars.

They had a variety of Celebs and AX guitars on display. We were encouraged to play them all. With the exception of a couple pretty low end Celebs they all sounded good, pretty equivalent to the USA LX models. The 2078TX was not as loud or quite as lush sounding as my daughter's USA 2078T. Quality of fit and finish was quite good. Overall a much better experience than the usual Guitar Center dirty guitar with dead strings.

There were only one carbon topped Adamas, the Melissa Etheridge 12 string, and no mandos or ukeleles.

The wood topped Adamas is an outstanding guitar! Arguably the best sounding wood topped Ovation I've heard. It would be worth playing a 1537 or other older model next to it. The bridge looks spectacular on a modern guitar. The suspension ring adds a nice classy touch to the appearance in addition to the sonic improvements.

The one big disappointment was that the video open mic was limited to ten, and the list was some kind of secret private sign up prior to today. Walk-ins like us were not able to perform for the Hometown Hero segment. If you want to do the video when the RoadShow comes your way, call the hosting venue well ahead of time to find out how to get on the sign up list.
