brand new? Looking for opinions/experience before I think about ordering one (none in the wild nearby). And opinions on current Adamas quality.

Yup, bought one a few years ago. It is fantastic! The workmanship is flawless. The tone is great!

Think I'd have to get the red one.

I wanted a red one but there were no more at that moment and the rumor was the custom shop might close. Damon assured me the reverse blue burst actually does sound as good, and he was right!

The 1687GT is the most refined sounding O/A I've had. Comparatively, the 2080 is bold and brash, while the mid bowl 12 fret 1198 is delicate and mellow.

When I want to impress with great sound, the 1687GT is my go-to whether acoustic or plugged in.

I thought the red ones were supposed to sound better LOL

Maybe its because I'm accustomed to paying an Adamas 1187-247RI

The 47RI was no longer available when I was in the market!

Honestly, though, I can't imagine any Adamas sounding better than the current GT versions. Except maybe an original slothead, which as I recall vibrate for about 2 weeks after being lightly strummed.

I got one in reverse blue in November and it is so good that I thought about selling my Gibson J-45. I finally decided to keep the Gibson, but could have lived with my Adamas only and be happy. This is the most unique looking, playing and sounding guitar you'll ever play.

Just don't try to make it sound like a Martin, take it for what it is and you'll have no regrets. I love mine for finger picking, d'estate the narrow 1 and 11/16 nut. This is a killer guitar. Period.
