I've been playing Ovations for about 12 years and i just bought a sweet Cp2001 on Ebay.
I can't really find much about it on the net.(So far)
Does anyone know anything about it?Like How many were made?
Looking for all the info i can get my hands on.
Thank You

It's the celebrity 2001 coolectors. This one had a solid top if memory serves me corrctly.I playedone about 3 years ago in Texas that a Store had still on the rack, It played pretty good.Just a thought, Try to see if The Guys at Customer Service would know.

There were a lot of them made, but I have never seen an actual production number. It is a pretty guitar, very reflective under lights since it is chock full of abalone.

I just realized I made a mistake in my description. Paul in right about the abolone though. The 2001 featured a laminate top and was available in the cherryburst finish.
The 2002 was Black with a Solid Spruce top and lots of flashy Abolone. It was the 2002 model I was thinking of, Though there are plent that purchased the 2001 and loved it.

Thank you for your help.
It is a very pretty guitar!I bought as is off of Ebay.I was really worried that it was going to be screwed up,but it's almost perfect. The finish is flawless. The only problem that i've found is that the High e string buzzes on the higher frets. But it does need new strings.

Most guitars need some adjustment after being shipped, but it is wise to let them settle down a day or two after travel to get used to the new environment. There are plenty of threads in the archives regarding neck adjustment and string height.

Palnu,
My 2001 was my first multihole. Although I think the US models are nicer, The 2001 is a very nice guitar. In fact the band I play in uses it when we play out. It does a very nice job and sounds great.

I feel kinda left out talking to you guys.Even thought this Cp2001 is my 3rd Ovation.(I've lost or sold the last 2)
They've all been of the Celebrity Deluxe variety.I'd love to have a "Usa" or an "Adamas".But i just can't afford one. This was a big buy for me.But i'm happy with what i got.

Palnu,

Don't feel left out!

In the OFC there are over 3400 Members that have found the site and shown interest. Of these, there are the very-vocal 49 1/2 or so that keep the banter going on a day to day basis. there are maybe 2 Dozen that have expansive and expensive "colections, harems, hoards or what have you.

Drool and extol the virtues of USA made and FD 14 and 1537, blah, blah, blah...

...it is the basic playability and value in the Ovation acoustic design that draws us in.

They are just wonderful instruments.
