The 2001 featured a laminate top and was available in the cherryburst finish. The 2002 was Black with a Solid Spruce top and lots of flashy Abolone. It was the 2002 model I was thinking of, Though there are plent that purchased the 2001 and loved it.

It is a very pretty guitar!I bought as is off of Ebay.I was really worried that it was going to be screwed up,but it's almost perfect. The finish is flawless. The only problem that i've found is that the High e string buzzes on the higher frets. But it does need new strings.

There are plenty of threads in the archives regarding neck adjustment and string height.

Of these, there are the very-vocal 49 1/2 or so that keep the banter going on a day to day basis. there are maybe 2 Dozen that have expansive and expensive "colections, harems, hoards or what have you. Drool and extol the virtues of USA made and FD 14 and 1537, blah, blah, blah... ...it is the basic playability and value in the Ovation acoustic design that draws us in. They are just wonderful instruments.
