ok men,
i'm about to get a new 1778LX. i REALLY want a black one. i could go to the GC (45 min drive) who has one in honeyburst(only one in my area- 1778LX that is)...but i really want a black one and i'll have to order it from musicians friend.
so my dilemma is...go play the one i want in my second favorite color(HB) or order one unplayed in my #1 choice Black...
what to do, what to do...
i guess my ultimate question is how is ovation's QC these days? i'm just a little uncertain about pay-beofore-you-play.

Go for the one you want...order it.

But, before you do, consider checking with Al. Besides service, I have never seen a lower price advertised.

As far as QC, I have bought six new since 1/2004. In addition, three demo's which were basically new. That's nine. Not bad in 19 months.

Sure, we had a couple of problems with the early Adamas 12-fret. That is well documented in prior posts. Ovation stepped up and delivered a remarkable guitar.

I have no hesitation in buying a guitar unseen if it is an Adamas or Ovation.

I would:
Order through Al and have the color I want in less than a week. Go into that GC every day and play the "other" until yours arrives. Friends for life can wait a week.

If you don't like what you get Al can exchange it. I got mine site unseen after Al (and his cat) checked it out.

Heck, Al even has a convienent payment plan.

Put whatever you want down and pay the balance before the guitar ships! :D

Then I might be able to afford that FRG #47 after all!

We have been praising Al all day. Tomorrow is another day though.

My only complaint is that Al is on the wrong coast.

Why would you buy a color other than what you really want just because it's local? Get you're first choice even it means waiting. In the long run you will be happier. Dave

I once asked out a girl and then found out that her sister was a lot nicer. It isn't a great situation.

You'll enjoy here more when she arrives. Give us a full report when she's delivered to your doorstep.

I wish I had done that. I really wanted my 1777LX in Natural, but got a cherry instead. I like it but I stare with lust when I see a natural. My Cherry gets jealous. But someday I hope to own both.
