Joined: March 2006 Posts: 1634 Location: Chehalis, Washington | Thanks again to Al for invinting me back. I'm looking forward to getting back to chatting guitars and gear with serious roundback guys (my buddies are still mostly Taylor junkies). I've got a couple new additions to the family, most auspiciously our first and only boy, Caleb, born just this month on the 7th: Second and less noteworthy, I've crossed over into the Uke world, and of course done it in the right fashion: Now I just need a Koa 6-string, and I've got the whole family covered! It's been a crazy few months, and I'm looking forward to catching up with friends here. Have a great weekend!

It's essentially a PD body, mated with a modified Epiphone SG Limited neck and a pair of 80's Gibson Alnico HB's. I played around with some mods & refinishing, as the original finish was shot, which I think that Woody is taking off again down to bare wood (work well wasted). I've got it switched to a tune-o-matic roller bridge with string ferrules through the body. Mike is actually going to do some playing with routing the body a bit more and laying a spruce soundboard over the top, raising it up a bit and making more of a chambered body out of it. I already cut a new nut for it, which just needs some final adjustments once it's ready to string, and that's all set. I've got it set to wire 2T/2V with a 3-way switch, and moved the output jack to the bottom edge of the body. I'm shooting for a Koa headstock overlay and PG, with all gold hardware, including gold pickup covers. We'll see how it ends up. Here's a couple pics of the project pieces:
