This song was written for my mother. She had been ill. The idea had been persistently in my thoughts after I had a dream about her one night. She never got to hear it. A week and a half after that dream I was summoned home and arrived barely in time to say goodbye at her bedside. My sister was wiping her forehead with a cool cloth, and I was holding Mom's hand when she passed peacefully beyond the veil. I played the song at her funeral. I hope she liked it. I Will Fly |
