So I got that 1121-1 Artist...

It has had some repair work done on it, but it is functional.

The headstock has an extra piece of wood spliced-in, nice trick.

The bridge has been shaved...

That kinda messes with the "break angle" but it still sounds pretty good. I haven't changed the strings yet.
It is very light. Dave (StandingOvation, Tupperware, Gallerinski) sez that it is a 1970 model by the serial number, so I don't know if this was Hand-Laid fiberglass or what.
I cannot see if it has a "weave pattern" inside the bowl because there is alot of dust in there.
I will clean inside the bowl when I change the strings...
I am also gonna put a Soundboard Piezo Transducer inside there when I get one. (no preamp)

But it sounds really nice.

It's a handlaid bowl What I find interesting is the truss rod cover. Never seen one like that before.....

I was intrigued by that too.
I thought that it might be really old.

But the headstock was broken, and a piece of wood spliced-in...
So that might just be a stray TRC from the junk drawer.

But I don't recognize it from another brand.

Could just be a cutting from an archtop-type pickguard

Ovations of this era are my favorite; to me they sound best. Responsive and resonant, wide open and easy to play. Usually the price is right too. Enjoy it OMA.

Oh... when I read the thread title, I thought maybe you had a middle-aged Thomas Kinkead hater living with you.

Certainly was "minimalist" packaging, eh wot?
Play the crap outta that critter, OMA!
It would be real interesting if it has the original "modified-X" bracing pattern.

It was in a box along with that bubble-wrap, but still pretty minimalist.

I have finally changed the strings and wiped some of the dust bunnies out of the inside of the bowl.
Yes, the bowl is fiberglass... Or at least you can see the weave pattern in there.
It has some kind of VT bracing. And it is still Loud for it's size.
It does have the original Shallow Bowl.

It had a really flat homemade saddle...

But I swapped it for a "radius" compensated saddle, which I think might be bone...

I strung it with Martin Silk-n-Steel. I have taken a liking to them.

Once I got to look inside I found some chips in the top under the soundhole rosette...
That was a drag, but then I gotta remember that it is old and what I paid for it.
I am really happy with this one.

I think it has the VT-8 bracing like my '69s 1127 Glen Campbell, which is a kind of "deluxe-model" of that.... love that guitars!!!
