I am new to guitar, but I am learning and having a great time. Now it's time to get a better guitar. I was hoping someone would provide me with some insight. I have been looking at a late 80s 1767 legend. Looks to be in great shape. I am hoping I could get an idea of what it is worth and perhaps what it cost orginally? Thanks!

The 'spreadsheet' says that it was made from '84 ($935 MSRP) through '95 ($1299 MSRP). Present used market value needs to be 'searched' here and over at eBay (completed auctions).

Condition and rarity drives the market. HERE\'S the Mothership data.

The ol' timers here may have more info...

BTW, to the OFC!

davids, First Welcome!
Secondly, you can't go wrong with an Ovation.
The Deep bowl Legend is a gorgeous guitar.
Good luck

Welcome, davids. "What it's worth" is entirely a function of what the market allows, usually determined by what buyers are willing to spend. Your best bet is to do an advance search of ended eBay auctions to see what price these guitars have been fetching recently.

It's a rare Ovation, rare in several senses, that fetches more than it's original price (unadjusted for inflation - i.e. if it sold for $1,000 in 1980, it wouldn't go for more than $1,000 in today's dollars, and probably less depending on condition). That said, very good-to-excellent condition, older deep bowl Legends, both full body and cutaway, have been going for $400-$600 lately on eBay. HTH.

Welcome davids, Post some pic's when you get it. Is it a blue label or white label? I have a '92 1767, it's a white label. There's also a nice blue label 1767 on ebay right now. Item#250226894097

Old A braced Legends are one of the great sleeper guitars out there. Just flat out great tone acoustically. If I had to narrow down to just one Ovation, one of those would be in the contention, they are that good.....
