Tonight I put up a poster at my local hangout. When I was getting ready to leave, I noticed that the poster was taken down.

I said to my friend "Someone took my poster down". I then found out that it was a lovely young lady that was there enjoying an ice cream cone. I found out that she is a social worker that works in a school in one of the toughest areas in the city. She told me that she has wanted to learn to play guitar so that she could teach songs to the children that she comes in contact with.

She has a friend that plays guitar, and there is also someone at her church that might be able to teach her. However, I was wondering if there are any good online lessons you know about that she could take just in case someone is not able to teach her.

Getting a guitar is half the battle. The other half is being able to have someone teach you how to play.

Great to hear that Michelle!

There are so many lessons out there...

Have her search 'beginner guitar' on YouTube. There are a couple decent posters. Hopefully someone can help her out in person.

Very sweet thing you did!

That's great, Michelle! I'm so glad how this worked out for you.
One of my giveaways was a Yahama Jack found sitting in a garage on one of his repair jobs. The homeowner was getting ready to put it out with the garbage, so Jack offered him $25 for it (to salve his own conscience.) It had the most terrible fret buzz; apparently, the guy didn't have a tuner, because it was more than a step flat, and the strings were rattling against the frets. Brought to A440, it was more than okay for $25--Jack used it for his bluegrass guitar.
After his death, it went on to a young lady who worked as a camp counsellor during the summer.

I'm not very religious, but what's that story about teaching someone to fish, rather than giving them fish. What a cool thing you've done. That's some big Karma heading your way.

Workshoplive would be the go to for online lessons. But a live teacher would be so much better for a total beginner, even just a few lessons.

I've got a coupon for 7 days free on Workshoplive. If it will help your new friend, let me know and I'll send you the pin.

That is so wonderful, Michelle. Like GaryB said you've got some big karma coming your way.

Karen, thanks for sharing that story!

Gary and Anita, I hope some will come my way. I've been having trouble with my stomach and have an appointment with the Dr. on Friday.

This week will still manage to be awesome -- giving away a guitar and going to see James Taylor on my birthday (August 27)!

Welcome Depa and thanks! I don't think I welcomed you before.
