I recently bought a '91 Collector's (25th Anniversary) Legend on eBay that I am completely happy with, but a bit puzzled. It is very clearly a two piece top, but the Mother Ship website says "Solid Spruce" for that model. It sounds great and the action is super. This is not a crack. It's a perfect seam on both sides of the bridge that is "dead center" and you can see that the pieces are aging slightly differently to. There is a faint rise in it like you would expect in a seam, but no creak. Frankly to have gotten it with OHSC for less than $300, I am thrilled. I'm playing it more than my others at the moment. OK the Question???? Does the mothership sometimes make 2-piece tops that are "solid" sections where the versus a single piece top. In the words of Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller.. "Anyone??? Anyone??? Anyone??? Thanks, TR

I don't know if others stayed away from it becuase someone had put Sperzel machines on it or not, but they work well, and they didn't do anything stupid like try to plug the holes. If I want Schallers back on, I'll just pull some out of a drawer. I still do love my older 5-piece necks for speed and comfort (but maybe that's mostly habit). Thanks again.... Paul, at some point, I'm going to drop you a side note too since we're only about 20 miles apart.

I watch the forums a lot and appreciate your observations. I'll send you a PM after the craziness of the month. Love to swap some stories and maybe pick a little... Best regards, Steve McCoy
