I just purchased one that has the textured black bowl, no screw covers, 2-piece neck, and chrome tuners with nylon inserts. I have heard that two exact model guitars could have different features, so that's why i'm asking. Heres the pics. Thanks. Mike

That made me a little suspicious, I guess. It is going to be here tomorrow, so I will know more then. I was thinking that the ones that I have seen had the 5 piece neck, but there could have been exceptions. It has the correct ebony board, also.

Joined: November 2003 Posts: 231 | I received the Ovation today, and i'm just amazed with the condition of it. It is in unplayed, brand new shape, and the case still has the bar code on it. I would call it new old stock. According to the S.N., it was built in 1981, and everything looks correct, except the case. It came with light gauge strings on it, and I wanted to try some 13's, so I thought I would take a look inside while I had the strings off. I was surprised to see that this guitar has the A style top bracing pattern. It is clearly marked Model 1111 and Made in Connecticut U.S.A. I have never known of a 1111 having the A bracing pattern. I sent an e-mail to Ovation to see if they could shed some light on it. Any ideas?

I'm still in shock from getting this guitar with the new case for 250.00, shipped. It's basically a brand new 1981 1111. I will buy all I can get like this one, and to top it all off, this one sounds about as good as any i've played. I will have to take a closer look at the bracing next string change. What is the difference between the K-5 and the A? I always thought that Balladeers had the modified X. Mike
