Hello! I just found this forum. I have been playing Ovation guitars since 1976. My first was a 76 Bicentennial. My second was a 1971 Tornado with vibrato. The Bicentennial was my main git for most of my life but the top blew up about a year ago. Not sure if I can bring her back to life or not.
My Tornado is alive and kicking though. Here are some pics:

What tailpiece is that? It looks great and I assume as you play it works well also.

Great looking guitar, but its eyebrows need trimming.

I don't think it's the original tailpiece.

I bought this guitar from my Grandmother's preacher. It had that on it when I bought it. It was the first vibrato I ever owned that actually worked. I have never seen it on another tornado so it may have been added. The low action on the arm has spoiled me. It's exactly where I need it to be.

I am such a 'PU assy' for the 335 style!

That's a unique v-tail piece. The arm looks custom made.

Very nice catch!

That would be cool if it was custom. If you look at the fret board you can tell how long I have had this guitar. I think I bought it in 91.

I like it.

Your '76 can most likely be repaired at the Ovation Factory.
