How long would a guitar usually 'hang around' in a shop window?

My local dealer is trying to sell me a Celebrity CP247 which has the square pre-amp controls looks like the OP24 ?

The guitar looks good and sounds good but would this be an old model? If so, how old?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sometimes they can be there for a long time.

That sounds pretty old, probably 2002 or older. I would make sure it can be sold as "new" with a full warranty. And then you should be able to negotiate a substantial discount. Just point out to the seller what a new (current) celebrity sells for on musicians friend, and I'd be looking at a price 30 or 40 percent below that amount.

Based on my experience with discontinued items, I'd say 25% off the musicians friend price of whatever is replacing it, would make sense. But point out to the seller that tax should be included because musicians friend doesn't charge any.
Good luck.

Had a 1996 Collectors sitting in a Local MS until an OFC Member grabbed it.

Spotted a Hamer Newport 12 that hung in Tacoma for a bunch of years. It's in NJ now.

I just recently bought a 2001 Taylor DDSM that had been floating around various GC stores for at least 4 years. Got a great deal and full warranty.

Thanks everyone.

Here in the UK (as I've just discovered) the celebrity is currently supplied with OP20 and the celebrity-delux has the OP30.

Apart from the label on the inside of the case are there any other pointers to differentiate a celebrity from a celebrity-delux?

This is a real good looking guitar. cp247-VOQ which I've never seen before. What would that stand for Vintage Orange Quilt?
It has got gold machining with perl knobs and diamond shaped inlay on the neck

As I mention, any help identifying age/model etc of this guitar is greatly appreciated.

well it depends.
I have some items that are new but a few years old. I ordered them a couple of hamer price increases ago so I would have some at a competitive price. No big deal the warranty stays and you can get a good bargain.

I have also had some Ovations that came from other vendors that could not sell them or were discontinued that had older s/n's on them, it is not a big deal you get the full warranty and usually a great price.

some people think this is deceptive since you purchased a guitar in 06 it should have an 06 s/n but you really have no control when the company actually made the guitar and how long it sat in the warehouse. usually these are short periods of time but sometimes they are longer.

Ultimately I feel that if the guitar is the right guitar for you who cares?

Don't know what VOQ stands for, but I think the Celebrities all have the round sound hole and the Deluxes are multihole.

My brother just bought a brand new '99 Adamas, one of the center-hole, smooth top ones.
