I think you price it too low (at $500?). All of the 1763s I saw on eBay were sold for $600-650. I would buy yours if I didn't have one already. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Dave, it's my understanding that 30 years ago the classicals were made with Spanish pine, but somewhere, about 25 years ago they went to cedar. To the best of my knowledge, all the classicals had cedar tops regardless of the color.

I know it's a proto but if they had a cedar top kicking around for this, they probably were producing at least some others as well. When I first got the guitar it didn't occur to me why it smelled so bloody good after it had been left in the case for a couple of days, and then it dawned on me... :) Wayne

Joined: October 2002 Posts: 61 | Sunny I'm not sure where you are getting your info but once again ,ALL cedar top guitars are made with AAA cedar. I work at the factory and can assure you we don't get anything less than AAA cedar! We do however grade these AAA to colors ,-4 nat,S s-series, -5 black (used on EA63 vipers only) I hope this clears it up for you. ;)

There is more oil in the wood than spruce and the stain had a harder time adhearing to the wood. Maybe they got better stain these days.
