Get out the tub of ice. we won another one with our leaders. 2500 individuals have admitted to joining our cacaphonic, positive, interesting, dedicated, Ovationist, strung up bunch of pickers. We have been visited by more people than can fit on most cruise ships, but a little less than an Army brigade. If they all post at once, we can overthrow any thing.

Get out the tubs of ice, Miles and Al are due for a game winning ice bath. (And most of our members need one to quell their rampant GAS).

Job well done aLeX and Miles. They're getting the ice tubs ready but surely they'll chill some beer before you get the dump?

You just reminded me that I have lobbied for some time for the motto

FREE BEER TOMORROW!!

Put that in the heading and 2500 more will be here by next Tuesday. If there is cold beer involved, Al and Miles are saved, I'm not going to empty the beer cooler.

Bailey :p

Speaking of odd names for bands, in a past life I was running the front end of a bar/restaurant (everything but the kitchen and catering) and we had live bands (as opposed to non-live, I guess) on Fridays and Saturdays. We had one trio come in that was just awesome, but they didn't have a name. In one of my more flippant moments, I suggested, 'Phil Latio and the Cunning Linguists.' They liked it and we put it on the sign...for about three hours. Later that night, they changed it to something with 'American' in it...not nearly as memorable. The owners of the establishment were not impressed...

In high school I was in "Montezuma's Revenge". That name pretty much fit the sound.

In college I was in an awesome AIR BAND (they were big in the early 80's) called "Hot Mustard". Came from a Sherwin-Williams color chart.

Then a Christian rock outfit called...
"Gone Fishin", then... "Town Choir", then... "The Classic Fischer Kings", then... "Able Bodied Men"...
This was all the same group, and any band you've actually ever heard of is not the same group.

I now play with a worship group we call BTO... (the Brandon Tucker Orchestra) named after the pianist.

I hate to say it but itsounded like a song so I wrote the lyrics

Good Time Charlie's was a bar in Ocean Beach owned by a friend of mine in 1962, the year I went to San Diego and his motto was FREE BEER TOMORROW. We spent many unforgettable nights in Ocean Beach, a haven for all of the oceans flotsam and jetsam. Tuna Fishermen, abalone divers, Polynesian guitar players and singers, perfect atmosphere for the early Ovations.

FREE BEER TOMORROW

The bright neon sign shined out on the beach
Twirling and flashing just out of reach
Flashing a message of the end of all sorrow
Spend all you want there's "FREE BEER TOMORROW"

Like a beam from a lighthouse it flashed through the night
Luring the sailor to the promise of free sinful delight
Saying spend spend tonight all you can beg steal or borrow
Don't save a dime, there's FREE BEER TOMORROW

I saw the sign as we sailed thru the harbor's calm waters
A young sailor with criminal intentions for innocent daughters
It's message was slashed in my brain like the sword's Z for Zorro
I could spend all I had in one night, there's free beer tomorrow

The bright neon sign shined out on the beach
Twirling and flashing just out of reach
Flashing a message of the end of all sorrow
Spend all you want there's "FREE BEER TOMORROW"

I lost my way spending on that wild drunken night
Woke up alone on the beach and the sun was so bright
Searched all the beaches for that wonderful sign
At dusk I spent my last dollar on a cheap bottle of wine

I went back to the ship so at least I could have dinner
Lay on my bunk with deep regrets
At not having the guilt of a sinner
Looked out the porthole and there in the night
Twirling and flashing sending it's message in bright neon light
Was the sign that had tempted me into uncontrolled spending
"GOOD TIME CHARLIE'S-FREE BEER TONIGHT" it's neon flashing unending

The bright neon sign shined out on the beach
Twirling and flashing just out of reach
Flashing a message of the end of all sorrow
Spend all you want there's "FREE BEER TOMORROW"

Then reality hit me as I heard an old sailor say
You're stuck in a time warp an unchanging forsaken place called today
Staring accross a chasm unbridgeable so deep and so wide
At neon promise of Free Beer Tomorrow, Rock Candy Mountain, the Hobo's Last Ride

The bright neon sign shined out on the beach
Twirling and flashing just out of reach
Flashing a message of the end of all sorrow
Spend all you want there's "FREE BEER TOMORROW"

Somebody add a tune to it and we'll have an original anthem
