Not interested in the guitar, but did Bill Lawrence make the pickups? THE Bill Lawrence @ billlawrence.com? That whole name thing is a soap opera.

Either Al or Miles would know for sure, but I'm thinking that Bill Lawrence pickups were used as replacements. I don't think they are original but I could be wrong.Al?? Miles?? heck CWKII would probably know too.

Thanks! Without pushing my luck on the font of knowledge, but who made them?
And as a point of order, I've ordered Bill Lawrence pickups for the neck of my tele. I suppose I liked the fact that they seemed like the smallest operation. In about a month I'll be able to tell you if the reviews and recommendations are true.

Ovation made them in the factory, same as the guitar.

I thought some learned member had referred to something like a chicken shack or hen house or something similar where the pups were wound. Hrmm....

That is a completely stock Viper, and I will agree with the listing person (who I remember well) that the pickups are great sounding. Just because they don't have a famous name does not mean they are inferior, the Ovation quality was apparently very high when these pickups were made. They have more windings than the Fender single coils that were made back then, so they have a different sound. That is good as we don't need no steenkin' Fender copies.

Bailey :p :D
