That's one heckuva start Joe!

What you have is probably the best stage acoustic ever built. Looks in great shape too!

Congrats!!!

Damn nice guitar. However, now you have got it, what's the story behind it. - Tell away and, if indeed the bargain of the century - make us all green with envy.

Ok Ok........ I was checking the new listings on eBay
and saw a nice Ovation Celebrity CC44S-AB £320 buy it now.
Looked at the pictures and thought Hmmmm that's no celebrity and took a punt!
(don't feel to bad for the seller it was a Cash Generator store
and its nice that they get a taste of they're own medicine every now and then!
somebody at that shop needs to learn to research properly)
Here's the listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161132516890?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_tr...

Nice grab, Joe. Rather than have someone else do your research, you will probably want to do your own. Most can be done on this site. That's what it's here for. Go back to the Forums and look at the Reference and FAQ section. There will be a serial number list, including the numbers for an Adamas. Yours will be on there from the mid 90s. Then when you have a rainy weekend, do some searches for Adamas or your model, or the preamp in the archives. There will be a ton of posts on all those topics. It might make you want to buy more Ovations, so watch out. Unlike many of us who started at the bottom of the Ovation line and took years to work up, however, you pretty much started at the top.

Nice hunting Joe!!!  (8-])

Congrats 'n welcome to the fun-house.

Impressive way to start an O collection (oh yeah, you'll get more! )

+1 on browsing through the archives. Loads of info, insights and some laughs in there.

Awesome deal! Well done.

an 1881 is considered one of the best shallow bowls made and a somewhat rare Adamas (meaning when they do show up for sale they don't last long)!
