| Hey guys! I recently started playing the keyboard. It's very fun. [=
Only problem is that my "keyboard" is a MIDI Casio ToneBank CT-395 run through my guitar effects to give it a sound that's not... midi.
I'm looking for a real synth that's justifiably priced to someone who is looking to experiment, and who's sort of a beginner when it comes to this stuff. Synths are so expensive, so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything I don't.
Also, I prefer analog or analog-style. You know... knobs to adjust everything, not like an LCD touch screen. |

| I've fiddled with software stuff. You can go almost free with that stuff sometimes. But I really enjoy analog. I like being able to turn little knobs on the synth to adjust the sound. [= |

You should send a PM to Jeff Burns (OFC Member #2805; handle = "NostrAdamas").
He brings his Roland to every gig and does great things with in hooked up to his Elite. I know that the whole rig plus attachable pickup only cost a few hundred bucks! The patches are dated 80's sounds, but Jeff works magic with some of the more subtle sound-effects (bass, bells, voice etc). Jeff praises it for being very user-friendly. Easy to find one on eBay, I am sure.

I use a Triton LE 76 which you can get used for about 500. Alesis QS6 and Korg X1 are also good inexpensive synths with decent keys. |

Location: Ballston Lake, N.Y. | Roland SH201 is a new reasonably priced analog modeling synth with knobs. Sells for $595.00. Found a used one here Parkway Music for $299.00. The store is right around the corner from my house. It would be great if you could find a used Roland Juno 106 for around $350 though some on ebay are selling at $500-$600 bin. |

| Interestingly, I was looking on ebay at Roland Junos 6, 60, and 106s and I found a 106 being sold by a member of the band that sort of inspired me to start learning keyboards. At least I think so.
The band is called Kiss Kiss, and the posting said that the keyboard was used on their albums The poster's name is miknofx, and one of the synth/guitar players in Kiss Kiss is named Mike Abiuso. Strange coincedence. [=

You'll want something used, either a KORG or a yamaha.
I also agree that keyboards are fun, the keyboarders have lots of fun tools, I'd say more than guitarists, though have you seen that new guitar synth from Moog? |

Location: Round Rock, TX | +1 on the Roland Synths. We've been using the SH201 at church now for a couple of months. It seems like a more than decent synth the couple of times I've played keyboards, since we got it. I used to own a Roland Juno 6 back in the day. That's one I wish I still had. |
