Actually, I took the pick guard off my tele. It looks good undressed and makes it easier to do adjustments.

What do you attach the neck pickup to? Mine attaches to the pickguard.

many people screw the pickups directly into the body, this was an old evh trick. Those that do it claim they get more sustain and out put out of the pickups. I am not so sure sounds like voodoo to me.

Yep, what al said. Frankly, before I played a carvin, i thought all guitars had their pickups screwed in. And my tele is from the days before evh. Anyhow, I kept the pick guard because some people like them. I thought it was weird that you'd want to attach a pickup to a flimsy pick guard. As to which is better, I think screwed into the wood is more stable and easier to adjust. But since I don't own one of the others I can't say. Try it, you might like it.

Teles usually have the front pickup screwed into the body. All the ones I've built recently have no pickguards, they look better that way I think.

I read the text and am glad it is made out of pickguard material, but what in the world is a "simulated design"?
