Location: NJ | many people screw the pickups directly into the body, this was an old evh trick. Those that do it claim they get more sustain and out put out of the pickups. I am not so sure sounds like voodoo to me. |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | Yep, what al said. Frankly, before I played a carvin, i thought all guitars had their pickups screwed in. And my tele is from the days before evh. Anyhow, I kept the pick guard because some people like them. I thought it was weird that you'd want to attach a pickup to a flimsy pick guard. As to which is better, I think screwed into the wood is more stable and easier to adjust. But since I don't own one of the others I can't say. Try it, you might like it. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Teles usually have the front pickup screwed into the body. All the ones I've built recently have no pickguards, they look better that way I think. |
