Not sure why, but I decided I had to have my first electric. (Been listening to too much Allman Brothers, I guess!) Anyway, I couldn't find the guitar I wanted anywhere around home (Hamer SATQ) so I did what I have never done before and ordered on-line. The guitar was in good shape when it arrived, save for a damaged low E string that appears to have a mfg defect. I plan on taking it to have it set-up. I did notice that it appears to have a weird little harmonic or something going on with the A string. I'm a beginner, so I don't really know the terminology, but it's almost like the A string rings a little longer than the others. I can strum the open strings, and the A string seems to vibrate longer than the others. iS THIS COMMON, AND CAN IT BE CORRECTED WITH A SET-UP? I want to make sure I didn't get a defective guitar, as there is a limitaton as to how long I can try it out and return it without complications. It just seems to add a little un-wanted sound in the back ground. I have noticed what I think is a little sympathetic vibration of the A string on some of my acoustics, but this is more pronounced. Sorry for the ignorance. Thanks for any info you might have.

that is incorrect.
Greg Gianakis started the museum as a place to put pictures etc and start a serial number registry. As time went on the focus changed.

btw I am not disgruntled I was banned.

Sorry, Al

didn't mean to implicate you in any way...(btw, what a crock of sh8 that whole fiasco was)

Just seems the hamer museum is a bit more "civil" than the HFC is most of the time.

(...what's the old saying? I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member?)

These are really good guitars. That said, because you don't have much experience with electrics, you really need to bring it to a friend who does, have him play it, and have him give you an opinion, in fact, have a number of people play it and tell you what they think. I've found that's the best way when evaluating guitars, because you get to focus on how it sounds, instead of playing it. I know that sounds strange, but listening and playing are different. Next, if that does not resolve the problem, bring it to a Hamer authorized repair place. He'll be able to tell you if you have a problem, and whether you're still under the warranty or what to do. Hamer is like ovation and they have authorized repair centers all over the country. Congrats on your new axe, let us know how it works out.

PS You have guitars from my three favorite manufactures: Godin, Kaman and Tacoma (now owned by fender). It looks to me like you need a nylon string to round out selection. I'd suggest an ovation country artist. The new ones are good, but you can find pretty good deals on used ones on ebay. With that selection of guitars, you'll be able to go and play in any setting. You did good.

go to the hamer museum and look for Ted martin's manifesto.
It is entertaining reading.
I did not reply everyone else did a real good job of making my case.

I still love and play and sell Hamers and just picked up a 12 string newport but I have to tell you that the whole fiasco left a bitter taste in my mouth.
