Did Ovation (or Adamas) ever make a super-shallow bowl non-cutaway? I'm a shallow person (that sounds bad; my waist-line prefers shallow bowl), and I enjoy my 1121. I think I read somewhere about a non-cutaway SSB. Or am I going crazy (crazier)?

That's a good question. I'm not sure that any were ever put into production, but I think that SSB 1537 prototype that showed up here about a year ago was not a cutaway.

Somebody here is bound to know.

Seems like a non-cutaway SSB would have the better acoustics anyway...not too sure which top would achieve that, a multi-hole or center-hole..I guess they're made more for an electric application..

Personal exp-- My SSB's are OK for personal listening, but if you want to project ANYTHING you should use an amp. to get any bass or volume.
They ain't gonna fill the chapel/coffee house, and definitely not the bar, park, or street corner.
And yeah, pretty much for electrical apps. I like 'em cuz I can tuck them up under my arm like my strat, but they sound fuller. And still play the National Anthem.

I only knows 2 models SSB non cutaway and both are prototype:
Dave\'s Adamas Proto and Fugot\'s Adamas Wood Top Proto.

I really love this Adamas Wood Top... ;)

The first and probably the closest non cutaway SSB guitars to almost make it to production were the SSB "contemporary folk classic model" that made it to the Namm show in 1967,were in price pages and literature but never went into production

Jason,

I don't remember such a model custom made for Marcel.
If I'm right, Marcel's SSB were all cutaway.

I think Ovation would make you any guitar you want if you pay the price. Do some research and you might come up with better SSB acoustics than you'd expect otherwise.
