Joined: January 2004 Posts: 799 Location: Athens, GA & Gnashville | S/N 0360 This beautiful parlor size Ovation in absolutely perfect MINT condition, which is why I'm selling it. No dings, NO scratches, NO finish cracks! It has less than 6 hours of total playing time on it. I bought it new from an online/brick & mortar retailer some years back. I bought the slimmer nut as I always do: my fingers aren't much longer than my toes! ![]() After I bought it and it arrived, I unpacked it to make sure it arrived unscathed. I immediately packed her back up and sent her to Kim at the factory and had the original electronics replaced with the factory updated electronic system for this model. Apparently, there were some problems with original factory volume control. It now operates perfectly, the way it was designed to. OHSC with green velvet-type lining included. All original owners manual, factory literature and code-key instructions are still with the instrument. $750 with UPS insured shipping included, so I tried to figure $700 for the guitar and case and $50 for shipping. Note: I have tried to post pictures, but being Mr. Lo-Tech, I have hit a snag. If someone would care to help me out here, please send ole Goob a message. In the meantime, I will keep trying. I took the pictures with my HP Dig Camera.

Sounds like crap. The top is too heavily braced and the small body cavity doesn't pump out much sound. As a steel string parlor guitar it's nice, but if you want a nylon I would highly recommend you get a purpose-built one.

Beal recommended a cedar top for a nylon string guitar many years ago and he was right, as usual. If you want a nylon string with a decent bottom end, get a Classic. If you don't mind a little lighter sound, get a Country Artist or a standard classical or flamenco guitar. I don't want to sound like I am dissing the 97 Collector. I love mine, but it is a parlor guitar and that's what it should remain. It's a nice little guitar that is great to leave in your parlor, if you had one, so you can pick it up and play in a small setting. I think it's one of the coolest Ovations, because it shows that Ovation could still think outside the box, even when their box was a roundback.

I don't think I have a parlor, I'm not sure what a parlor is. We do have a lot of wasted space in our entry way and living room, though. My basement and garage are two parts of the house that I enjoy the most. My parlor guitar hangs next to the other guitars in the basement. Edited by Mark in Boise 2013-07-24 5:40 PM
