The first electric guitar I ever held in my hands was an early 70s Breadwinner and the Ovation name has stuck with me ever since. Finally got around to adding one to my fairly expansive collection (for such a newbie player). Picked up a 12-string Ultra 1515 beater. Four of the Schallers (with pearloid tuners) do not work... the posts collapse through the back when tightening the strings. I have yet to remove any of them that do, so do not know what is missing that is causing this - this is my first guitar with Schallers. From what I can tell, finding vintage Schallers is like looking for the Lost Ark, so I am welcome the possibility of someone telling me I am wrong. So my question is: Does anyone have a single (or more) vintage 12-string Schaller tuner in this style that they want to sell (stop laughing) and if not, what is the best option for replacing them (cosmetics aside - since I have read the StewMac pearloids do not fit the current options of Pings or Schallers.

When you get full access (a moderator will be along shortly) you should re-post this request in the general section (or For Sale as a WTB).

You may have to do this in two steps; get the tuners, then get the knobs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ovation-12-String-Guitar-Machine-Heads-Tune... This seller seems to have them often. It may be beneficial to contact them and ask if they have 4 to sell, and/or if they have the perloid knobs. I've purchased less than a full set from them before.

Currently I am learning the challenges of playing an 8-string Ovation Sure wish I had bought that '74 Breadwinner back in '84 when I could have, btw. (Then again, aren't we all saying something like that about vintage geetars).

Joined: November 2012 Posts: 13 Location: Jacksonville, FL | TJR, Turns out the tuners are fine - I just need three of the right size bolts to keep them in place (which is why they are slipping) and three of the pearloid tuning keys. Really stupid of me not to realize that before I posted. I have a Fastenal store just down the road that might have the bolts. If they do, all I will need are the tuning keys. Let me know if you have either of these pieces and the cost for them. thanks! Mark / drsyn67
