Subject: Simple Question - hard to find answer

Location: New Mexico		I have a 1982 Ovation Concert Classic 1616-4 and it has a Sitka Spruce AA top.
The sound hole trim ring covers part of the edge of the hole plus, it's heavy
on some kind of black paint or dye.

Is this top solid or ply?
