Joined: June 2009 Posts: 14 Location: Scottsdale, AZ | I would like to sell my 1627-4. Does anyone know where I could find used values?, since there were only 100 made, it is hard to find something online for sale that is comparable. Thanks

Dealers were blowing them out for around a grand at the end. This is one of those cases where you get to be the market maker. Let us know how it turns out.

The 40th Anniversary issues were all those guitars that the Old Farts said that Ovation should make more of. Then nobody bought any. Or not enough of them. Thus came the Korean AX's, TX's, and the Demented Collection. Meanwhile, the Old Farts keep trading the same old guitars around. [And that is the way we like it!]

"All guitars these days are made in Korea, China, and Indonesia it doesn't matter what the labels say. That's just where the company is from. The companies are just names that change hands all the time, and when that happens things change. For example, you might think that guitar is made in the USA, and maybe it was, but when the company is bought they just bought the name. They might not keep that factory and outsource the guitars to China." I suppose, all in all, what that meant to me was that not very many people care in guitar industry about making those old, classic guitars we love. Just look at Gibson, what a drop in quality. New guitars are too expensive these days, you can drop less money on beautiful vintage guitars that are 3x as amazing. It's not very good when a company finally bucks up and makes a great new guitar and it doesn't sell. I guess the public just goes along with the changes in the industry. I'm curious to see what value this guitar has at this point.

Now is not a good time to sell if you want to get what you might consider to be a fair value for it. I would seriously doubt you can net more than half that $1100, though I am not an expert on the used value of that guitar. eBay/paypal will suck up a lot in fees, and not much is moving at prices comparable to even a year or two ago. Good luck with your sale.
