The strap always comes off of the small strap nubs. I have Strap Locks on all of my electrics. Is it OK to do this to an Ovation being as I am not drilling into a typical light weight mahogany sided acoustic? GC guys for what it's worth don't have an answer.

You can put StrapLocks on the O, but you'll have to use the Ovation screws (or similar) on 'em.

They are machine screws, and screw into a threaded insert (like a molly) instead of into wood.

If the screw heads are too big to fit into the StrapLocks, put the screw into the chuck of a drill & "spin" it on some emery paper to make the head smaller.

What Cliff (or is that cliff)says? I have adapted a couple of Ovations now by chucking up the screw in my Makita and sanding it down until it drops into the Straplock. Works great and allows quick swaps of your strap (when you only own one like me).

The stock Ovation screws work fine with the Schaller strap locks on all of my guitars.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a molly?

That's what we call cliff when he's not looking..

I tried to describe a molly bolt, but re-read it and it didn't make sense to me. Maybe someone else can give a better explanation than mine. Basically, a fastener that has two parts. One goes in (and attaches to) the wall to create threads. The second part is a screw that attaches to the first part.

Don't know if this'll make it any clearer but here's my attempt. A "molly" screw (or bolt) is one where the "seat" of the screw actually goes through the "wall" and then acts as a nut for the screw or bolt with the wall compressed between.

Not to be confused with a Moll.
