If you think you want to be a Drummer, take this test first!

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the air with your right hand.

If your foot changed direction you are not a Drummer!

If any other body part started turning you may be a lead singer.

I'm left handed. I just pushed my "That Was Easy" button. :D

No way Gospel dude!
I am left-handed and supposedly co-ordinated...I can't do it....my foot starts going counter-clockwise like it has it's own little brain.

I was having trouble doing it until I started tapping my left foot in time with the drool dripping off my chin.

Can I be a drummer now?

Kerry,

Try draw the 6 the opposite way than normal.

As if anything could be normal for a lefty who plays right handed. :D

Woody,

Where do you come up with these things?

Other than being coordinated between hands and feet, I don't see the whole connection here. If this is truly a valid test, I may have to test it out on my drummer...

I do know that Woody has WAY too much time on his hands on a daily basis. Blame it on the day job. :D

I refuse to try. I know I am not a drummer. My 3 year old son plays is drum machine better than I ever could. Besides, I have a very sore right foot.

Andrew, you're closest to him. Give him something for us, would you?

Ouch!

For this one I blame Nils. Nearly every other day I get random emails of cool guns, model airplanes, military home movies, redneck oddities, etc.
As far as the Right brain/Left brain exercise given here - I have seen this passed off in several ways. I thought the drummer test was a nice angle. As G3 stated the answer is to draw the 6 from the inside out so that there is no directional process change in the brain.

And in the I started it so I can hijack it department:

Easter weekend is upon us and I want to solicit prayer for all of the worship bands and workers that are trying to polish, practice and perform their tasks this weekend. The battle for time, patience and appropriate attitudes is raging.

Andrew did a fine job last night as we struggled with new songs, no babysitter, end of the workweek exhaustion, MIA Singers and the inability to hit the notes we could 2 weeks before.

We wrestle not with flesh and blood but with ...

I have enough trouble keeping my 2 hands coordinated! I play sitting down so I don't fall over. Although I can do the jump up and down thing while I'm playing, it's just not the same since I'm not in a band anymore and if I knock over anything in the living room my wife gets mad.

Good luck to all the worship players on your big Easter gigs. Knock 'em dead, then bring 'em back to life!
