Joined: February 2002 Posts: 48 Location: CT | Hey Al, nice work on this board! I want to know if anyone can direct me to a listing of Collector's Series Ovations (mid 80's to present) that includes a description of features (woods, bowl depth, fretboard cut/ fret count, cutaway, preamp, blah blah blah)? I'm pretty sure I've seen a document like this, but a web search comes up empty. Incidentally, I'm in the market for an '88 Collectors right now, if anyone has a lead. Thanks!

Have you tried the 2001 in redwood? it is the most awesome guitar I have played in a long time. that top just rings and sings. BTW is the 88 one of the guitars with a six in line headstock and 14 fret clear neck? they are kinda set up similar to an electric Glad you like the site we have a ton of stuff planned and tell your crafty guitarists to check us out too!!! PS I need to call you and have a long anal retentive discussion re digital recording...

The '88 in particular appeals to me because of it's fingerboard. It's got the Elite-style soundholes, but it's got 24 frets on an ebony board. That's 24 across all strings, versus the Elite cut where there are fewer frets on the lower strings. Also, it's light and super-shallow, which is critical for me. (Headstock is a 3+3. I never cared for the 6-in-line's on acoustics.) Looking for anything comparable, but stonge tells me these are often available. (Maybe he's just trying to keep me from stealing his LOL.) I just purchased a Thunderbolt, I would like to know anything I can about it, as well as places to look for more information. I probably won't be able to check here very often, so email me with any helpful advice you may have about searching for information about this guitar. I've been told that there should be a serial number on the guitar, but I can't find one anywhere. I've taken the back panel off, and everything. Nothing. I'm most interested in the value of the guitar, since I have no clue if Ovations appreciate or depreciate in value. I'm told it's 13 years old, and I've had it judged to be in near mint condition. Any replies would be appreciated. Thank you.

BTW: I'm new to this board. Been on a week and I love it. Looking forward to seeing ALL Ovation specs on this site. Also, BTW, Ovation's website doesn't even list the USA Legend.

How often does that happen? :) Hizzoner, I did finally locate an '88 Collectors edition, which was my 1st choice despite the funky finish. It arrived a mess and I bitched incessantly (didn't want to confuse anybody by breaking character LOL). But now it looks as if there may be a final happy ending. I'll have more to say on that in a couple of days.
