Well, I suppose I should have found you guys before I bought my CV68 Viper. At least I read the boards before I asked about what ya'll think about the Korean (pronounced "kreeyun" in Teksis) products. Oh well, since I'm a beginner, I suppose I wouldn't know the diffrence between a sustained note on the Viper and a sustained emission of flattulence - so I'm quite sure I'll be happy wiffit. Anyway, it's in excellent condition and I paid $299 for it. Do you think that was still too much for this instrument?

I'm hoping to get a used Gibson Les Paul next time around.

I think the Celeb and CV etc.. import guitars for the most part are fine instruments. Are they of the same quality as a $2000 or more USA Made Ovations..... well no... but is it comparable or actually even better than most other $300 guitars.. IMHO ABSOLUTELY!!!

Mr.O - I appreciate your reply, which puts me at ease with this topic. However...was $299 too much for this instrument? I'm thinking maybe you did not directly respond to that question as you may in some way represent "The Company", and may be inhibited in what you publicly say. Don't take me wrong...I'm just a newbie out there wondering if I really took it in the wazoo. I had a friend tell me NOT to buy it because it's Korean, and his Guitar Show Dealer friend said he gets them (furren maid) for $75. I have a hard time believing this unless he is talking about really farped up old Korean Ovations. I came into this deal believing "nothing with 'Ovation' stamped on it can be bad - gotta be pro stuff". Please advise & thanks.

Hey Swat:
You can believe Miles (Mr. Ovation). He's not affiliated with Ovation, but is highly knowledgeable about this subject. Ask him about his other subject, motorcycles.

I guess that's what I get for making a professional looking site :) No I am not affiliated with Ovation. They have been good to us with supplying information and IU've met some very fine folks via the eMail and at NAMM conventions. TO answer your question more directly... I have a "rule" of sorts with guitars... ANY guitar that is will made, in good condition, and plays well... with a good case.. Is probably worth $300 dollars. I think the Korean Ovations are actually pretty good instruments for the $500ish category. Like I said... would I expect it to play and sound like an Adamas or Elite.... no... But for $300, I would be more willing to play it in a club. I have an old Medallion I bought in '75. Bottom of the line so-to-speak... although made in the USA. I also have Adamas II, Adamas, a few new Vipers and lets not even talk the 100 or so solidbodies... I take my $150 Medallion (factory second by the way) on stage if I have to play an acoustic in a club, or I have taken in camping etc etc etc... No it doesn't play like the others, but it lasts, and it was the best $150 I ever spent. A new CV68 at Musicians friend is $549, and a blemished one is $467.00. I'd say at $299, IMHO you got a great deal.

Many thanks, guys. I feel much more comfortable with my purchase now, & no longer feel that it's necessary to perform ritual disembowelment....I'll save it for a more traumatic life event : ) :D

Sustained emissions of flattulence, now there's something a les paul can do well.
