I bought a 1861AX Balladeer used and it has problems with the the pickup. It cuts in and out and sounds distorted. This is the traditional wide style Ovation pickup with an OP-Pro preamp. It is not the preamp or the can, I swapped both out and it does the same thing. I pulled the pickup and the jack out and the connections appear good.

Has anyone ran into a similar problem? Are their known problems with the pickups on these guitars? Does this sound like the piezo pickup itself is bad or is it likely to be a crappy connection somewhere? Anyone know if I can measure with an ohm meter and what I should see?

Also does anyone have a good pick up assembly that that they want to sell?

Your help is appreciated

thanks

Brian
