i just brought back a couple more ovations, a 1612 and a 1115-1 12 string made in 1977. it has the slotted style head. it has a allot of stress cracking where the head and the neck meet below the nut. that seems to be common or at least in the others like it i have seen. i think it is only in the finish, but i havent really started to dig deep and do a setup yet. the top is pretty flat and has the characteristic balladeer finish cracks typical of the era. has anyone here reinforced the head area on this style of ovation 12 string before? this will be an acoustic work guitar and my main concern is preventative measures rather than collector calibre restoration. this is the first slothead stye ovation i have dealt with and they look a bit weak in that area. any help amigos?
