I discovered tonight that the great John Williams played a nylon string O when he was performing with the group "Sky".

Take, for example, their electric rendition of J.S. Bach's "Toccata".

Nah! That was a knock-off. You can tell by the head stock.

You probably don't know this Italian guy, but he is the reason why I play guitar and especially Ovation Classic 1613 and Adamas.

He has always played as a leftie.. though note the right-handed guitar's natural configuration with bass strings on the bottom. This I never knew about him until now.

A recent interview with Nancy Wilson of Heart on YouTube revealed no O/A guitars in her music room. She has/had signature model guitars with Martin and Epiphone. I've seen no evidence she repudiates her prior choices with Ovation and Adamas though. I think she has been carefully and successfully crafting an image all along, and Ovation didn't work so well with the 80's onward. Which, to be honest, was one of the things keeping me from being a fan of Heart early on. Their stage presentation seemed to be their calling card rather than the music being what they wanted the audience buy. I liked the music but found the live performance to be a bit insincere. Just like KISS actually. There's some fine musicianship with KISS but I could never get past their costumes and gimmicks. One of my good high school friends was an in-law of one of the KISS band, and even that couldn't get me to watch them on tv or go to a concert.

Nancy seems a lot more real now. Ann, too. I'd pay to go see them live.
