| Hi guys.
I have a 6751 standard balladeer, which has a mid bowl. Its a great guitar, but I have started to feel like a midbowl is too bouncy when I am playing it live. I have two of them. A 1771 6 also with the same issue. My shallow tangents do not present this issue. So I have been looking more seriously lately at either a super shallow 12 or at a deep contour 12. I have not been able to find any to play, so I was wondering if anyone could share their opinions? Also, I see on the Deep Controur side the Elite TX for around $950 and the 2751 balladeer for around $1200 are made in China. I am not specifically opposed to it, but I have not ever played a Chinese Ovation... My Tangents are made in Korea of course... but Chinese manufacture is new to me.
Sorry, I know I go on and on! haha In a nutshell, what do you guys think about the Chinese made Ovations and also what do you think about a super shallow vs a deep contour body? I would appreciate any thoughts, since I will probably have to purchase one of these online without trying first.

There is a Pro Series Ovation 2758AX for $1200. Idk where it is made, but I believe it would be Asia given the AX. Redblanketguitars has one in stock and could tell you more about it.
The deep bowl does roll skyward a bit, though I find it does so less than a mid bowl. Be sure not to hug the guitar with your right elbow. If you're playing plugged in, the difference in bowl isn't huge, but if you're playing acoustically, the deep and the deep contour are definitely bolder and deeper sounding. The deep contour does not roll up at all, and I find the tone to be outstanding, so that would be my choice if you are concerned and don't have the chance to test out the deep or the contour before buying. I have a 1688GT Adamas which is the deep bowl and it is plenty full and rich. I've found the contour bowl in the 6 strings to be a bolder sound, perhaps a little bit less refined than the regular deep bowl. That's splitting hairs for sure, but my contour bowl is when I want to be big and bold, whereas the regular deep is for finesse.
The Adamas 12 string is fabulous. It is a whole different class of 12 string. The 1688GT is current production, though yes it is expensive. I see used Adamas 12s on places like Reverb and GuitarCenter for significantly less than new.

Location: Gardnerville, NV | I have an 1866-1 Super Shallow Legend. Playing unplugged, it can sound very tinny. I have a Fender Acoustasonic 40 that I use at home. I put in a lot of bass on both the amp and the guitar, and I can get a respectable sound. I love the super shallow body Ovations. They are actually a dream to play. |

| Flysig and dba,
Thanks for the tip. I'm trying to see if I can change something in the way that I position my arm and see if maybe I can just manage it with better habits.
I do play acoustic and electric, so maybe I'd just be better off looking at the deep contour.
