Well, I played golf yesterday with a person I met 15+ years ago at a gathering. It was so long ago that we weren't sure if we had actually met or not. Didn't matter, we hit off like brothers and had a stonking good time. I guess the lesson is to stay connected, because we never know when the plug will get pulled for good.

To this day, forums hold historical knowledge and that hasn't been able to be replicated with the exception of dedicated sites.

Miles, reading this got me thinking. There is so much information in the archives that would be lost forever if something happened to this site. Is there any way to retrieve it and place it on a huge memory stick? I'd pay money for something like that and I'd bet that I'm not the only one. We had a lot of fun in the first 5 years on this forum......

Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!

We were traveling over the last week, enjoying the grandchildren and way too many adult relatives! This forum has become too quiet in general. Probably due to Facebook groups.

I still check "Posts Active Today" almost every day. Sometimes a few slip by, but most days turn up empty. Just got back from visiting family in Portland, full of people, dogs and food. If I continue on this one pound a day pace, I'm in trouble.

Paul,
Ask one of the A.I.'s to scan the entire OFC and answer some questions.

Love you all!
Don't forget to practice!

AND; there are those of us who meet from time to time IRL, because that's what this all leads to best. Do miss 'the gatherings' and feel incomplete having never made it to a factory tour BITD.

Happy New Year! My resolution is to get that carpal tunnel surgery that was cancelled in 2020- maybe I'll change my user name too.

Happy Holidays. Forums are not dated and still going strong for other guitar brands and topics. Facebook is no replacement. I love playing my two Ovations which will be about 20 years old soon. Unfortunately moving the bulk of production to Asia and stopping innovation has caused loss of interest in Ovation for the masses. This is now a fringe group.

A: always was.

B: Fans of any particular brand of any instrument are a fringe group..if they're not a cult. Or whatever fans of Hello Kitty Guitars are...

Our group strength is a sense of humour, IMO. AND that we operate under the influence of the Slipkid Manifesto. <peaceout>

Facebook is no equal, but it somehow reaches the masses. There is a very active luthier group called Ren-Ovation, which has many former OFC BFLG members and a bunch of new talent. This forum is a repository of knowledge, whereas FB posts just blow by.

I miss the OFC get togethers and camaraderie.

Black-eyed peas & collard greens. I think I'm missing the point, somehow. Guess I'm just not vegan.

You're missing out. This year we had Italian sausage in the black-eyed peas, so come on down for leftovers.
Hope everyone here enjoyed a great holiday season!

I fully agree.
