Joined: September 2011 Posts: 51 Location: Appleton, WI | Has anyone ever seen a Gold colored Bluebird? I'm interested in a history lesson if anyone has the lowdown on the GC Bluebird. I'm working with another OFC member, Ken Boyer. Building a "Tribuet" BlueBird. It will not be an excat copy of the org Bluebird as that famous guitar belongs only to Mr. Campbell. However I am a big fan of both GC and his BB and truly want to build somthing that is meaningful and respectfull of both the Man and his Ax.

Very nice 6 string BB. and to have had the man himself sign it... from what I understand there were a small number of each the 6-string and 12-string guitars made. And each of them was uniqe in someway.

I have been looking for information on his gold colored Bluebird. Sad to say, he left us in 2006. I have been trying to figure out what to do with the guitar, since I don't play and don't plan to. Can you give any more details on the guitar? I'm now also curious if you knew him. This was very interesting to find his name mentioned.

For starters the Bluebird-ness of it means that it's built like a UKII. In others not a wood body, but Urelite foam over an Aluminum core. Only a handful of these bodies (less than 20) were made in 6 and 12 string versions. Most ended up as Bluebirds for Glenn Campbell (and spares and extras etc..) As posted, 1 each 6-string and 12-String version became the "Brownbirds". So you have a one-of-a-kind color of a guitar that they only made about 15 of anyway. If it is like the 12-string pictured above, it has the pre-amp (2 9v batteries). So pretty much it has nearly everything thrown at it that they did in those days. Viper shaped body, but made of the material they made the UKII. The Electronics of the Deacon and Preacher Deluxe. And of course sparkle paint that no on can do like Ovation can do.
