But as the months have rolled by it seems to have opened up more. I was playing last night with a friend who was using an Alvarez MD200C, which is a bit of a cannon. I was thinking that I would need to plug in to keep up with the A's volume, having played with him, using my koa, before. To my surprise, I didn't. It does seem to be volume challenged however, acoustically. It'll be interesting to see how it sounds in another year. Good to hear it's comin' around for you...nice when something just keeps gettin' better and better! Dave

At NAMM last year, there were three guitars (at least those I played) that rose above the convention center noise...the 2006 Collectors, the 2080, and the Artist reissue. Then, when Al and I visited Matt in the "quiet room", Matt was doing a demo of the 2006C on a G-B Shen 100...that hooked me. Traded the Martin D-15S (slothead) and some cash to Al. Another transaction where both parties are happy. I like the special woods...have an all Koa Martin from 1980. And, this has the VIP pre-amp and contoured bowl.

Oh god I love those orange stripes in the light and the horizontal flaming is amazing. Just a thing of beauty. Accoustic volume is subdued, so I hope I get that opening up thing going on in the upcomming months and years. Tone is interesting...very balanced but definitely darker/mellower than the spruce tops. Have not had a chance to plug it in to an amp yet as it was kinda late when I got home and the wife and daughter were already heavily in TV mode. Will do that today. One weird thing...the dummy plug will NOT go in the jack. Thankfully a headphone 1/8-1/4 converter does the job just great so I guess its a dummy plug issue rather than jack issue. I do like that fading arrowhead thing thats going on with these tuners though...very cool. Will post pictures in the gallery as soon as I can.
