When I ordered my Ovation, I forgot to order a good case and so it came with a standard gig bag (which i don't trust). What kind of case do you store yours in and travel with it?

Does everyone use hardshell cases or are there padded bags that do the job nicely for a mid bowl? Any recommendations?

Cheers

Welcome plain jam.

What Ovation did you order?? I was under the impression that most Ovations come with HSC.

Well, I've started out with the CC24S-5. (Pics are in the "Step up and Introduce Yourself!"-thread).

My bundle didn't include a case, it was just the guitar.

I would suggest asking a moderator to get you set-up as "full member" and checking out the F/S section here. There may be a good used HSC floating around f/s. The 9158 case is for both Mid and deep bowls.
To answer one of your first questions, I use HSC.
I don't currently own a Gigbag

Welcome to the OFC.

You are cleared for the main boards. As suggested, head over to the for sale section - I believe Patch may have a few hard shell cases for sale - snap up one of those.

Thanks for all the replies. Thus, I gather that most if not all ppl make use of their hardcase. I'll check out the for sale section.

Plain jam, I am one of those who does not use the hard shell cases. I find them heavy and destructive to everything they touch, particularly door jams, furniture, shin bones, etc. Instead, I use three nylon covered bags for all my gigs, and between the three bags, they'll carry everything I use. Two of these have hard foam on the inside, the third is just a soft bag. One is a Tribal Planet bag in a dreadnaught size that fits all deep bowls plus my wood boxes. A second is Ovation's optional SSB case in which I carry all of my SSB models (used for the majority of my gigs), and the third is a soft Gibson bag that is long enough (about 41") to carry the EA Vipers and VXT. I have hard cases all over the basement, some that literally have been used only to ship the new guitar to me, but these three nylon cases are constantly in use for a range of models.

I was just thinking of a soft case for the Hot Springs trip.
