Recetntly spotted an ad for a mid-bowl Elite in my area. Photos are so-so. It says "LX" on the truss cover, has the pretty multi-ply neck and what I consider a 'modern' Op-Pro preamp. I have asked the seller to tell me what the label says as far as model, and his response was "Celebration- top of the line!" Which tells me he knows little to nothing about Ovations.
So okay, there is no Ovation 'Celebration'. But there is a Celebrity. However, this guitar does not look like one. It does not have the 'double dot' bridge, and the end of the fretboard 'swoops' like a USA built guitar. The epaulets also appear to be real wood, and might be inlaid into the top (rather than glued over it).
Are there any visual cues from not-so-great photos that would indicate yay or nay on a Hartford-built guitar? The price he's asking is decent for a Celeb Elite, but excellent for a USA model.
Thanks much. |

If the seller won't show you the label.... It is an import.
