I’ve been playing live with the OpPro Studio in both my 1537 and 1581-8 for quite some time now, but I’ve always wanted to get a more natural acoustic sound from my instruments. Has anyone here ever changed out the original system for something that has a true condenser mic at the hole area? With such awesome acoustic tones coming out of that 1537, it’s a shame to not be able to capture it in the sound system without actually having a microphone in front of the guitar.

I've got the Fishman Blend (piezo + mic) in a Martin OM42 and it sounds amazing plugged in. Probably more difficult to dial in than an Ovation but done right it sounds like a real wooden guitar. I see no reason this could not be fit into an Ovation since it requires no cutting of the bowl, the whole thing attaches to the underside of the rosette area.

I've had a 95 Collectors with the Optimax-Preamp system which has a condenser mic installed near the bridge:

You can also mix the sound of the piezo and the microphone. But when using more mic it got more sensitive for feedback.
To swap the preamp from Optimax to the kidney systems would be easier, because the are smaller....

Last year I bought a LAG "Michel Haumont Signature" guitar for my girlfriends birthday. There is a Fihman "Ink" preamp build in which is also able to mix a "bodysound" to the piezo, which makes it a fantastic sounding instrument plugged in. But to get this system in an Ovation or Adamas is very difficult, because some parts of the preamp are built in the strapholder at the end....

Thanks for the ideas. ‘Looks like Fishman may have the most workable option.

If you want the "air" of a mic, then you need a mic. The new Baggs emulator pedal (soundscape) does pretty well, sampling what it can "hear" and replicating
it in the electronic signal. IT listens with your smart phone, compares what is coming through the cable - and then adjusts. Again - it is not bad. But, there is a reason great acoustic guitar sound gets mic'd - either up close on the instrument - or a decent condenser about a foot away. If it is folk rock with a band - the plugged in sound will be fine - critical listening - need a mic to get that fairy dust in the sound.

‘Guess I just love the actual sound coming out those little holes, and I wish I could have that coming through the sound system.(playing in the church orchestra)

Have you looked at the LR Baggs internal mic system
