The problem is the wiring to the battery box is Black and White with no indication as to what polarity each wire is. Any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to 'fry' any electrics if I guess it wrong, Cheers James.

Normally one would expect black to be negative, but not necessarily so for some reason in some random Ovations. Look very carefully at the box itself. Where the terminals of the battery slide in, one slot may be slightly larger than the other. This is how mine is. It is difficult to see without good lighting. The battery itself has one larger and one smaller terminal. They should fit the slots in the battery case. FWIW, the wrong polarity shouldn't damage the electronics, though your caution is a good thing. I won't guarantee no damage, but would be surprised if the circuit isn't diode protected.

Not necessarily... house AC wiring - black = hot, white = neutral auto DC wiring - red usually pos, black usually ground. (at least at the battery) Edited by cholloway 2019-04-13 9:58 AM

On tours when you hook up distribution systems to the feeds in the arenas, while there are color conventions for the CAM-Lock connectors, get a hot and a ground mixed up because of color and you have fried 10s of thousands in amplification racks and 110 circuits to the instruments. Put a meter on it. For the record - in these scenarios the Green = Ground, White = Neutral, Black, Red, and Blue are Hots in a 3-phase system - usually 200Amps per leg - which if you screw it up - will do more than fry the hairs on your tongue. All my cars seem to Red = Positive, Black = Ground/Negative (Typical Distro.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Typical Distro.jpg (92KB - 0 downloads)
