I've lost track of all the new models but which models would you suggest for recording fingerstyle, chet atkins, jerry reed, jazz standards etc?

If I were considering fingerstyle as my primary genre, I'd look at the wide neck, 12 fret models like my FD14 (cedar topped) or the Ute. I'm not as familiar with the current models as I am with the older ones but I thought your post deserved some action on it. Anyone else want to chime in here...?

Yep.. Weaser is all over it. "FD14 (cedar topped) or the Ute"

There may be some new fd14's still out there. Used ones rarely show up. A used folklore may be a more reasonable alternative if you can find one....both the 1614 or 6774. And then the Josh White... best bet is the reissue.

As time goes on, the secondary market is contracting on the specialty Ovations of yesteryear.

Not sure if this is breaking the law (breaking the law) but, imo, this seems like a great ask and those don't show up very often.

I agree with Weaser on the wider neck 12-fret models, especially cedar topped, for fingerstyle. My FD14 is my primary guitar and I play 95% fingerstyle. Warm, resonant, plenty of bass. I also agree with Jay -- that 6774 looks like a good deal.

It is, however, a 14 fret model.

A Folklore is perfect for fingerstyle. I'd get an older one for the better looks. But those are rarer to come by.

Adamas 40th Anniversary 1198-AV40 if you can find one.

Or the Adamas 1198-GCF, again if you can find one

If you like playing up the neck, the 6774LX-Folklore (or 2774LX for deep contour bowl) is a nice choice. 1 3/4 nut, 14 fret cutaway. Very comfortable, and versatile. Again.... if you can find one.
